PrintedArt.com has taken me into their collection! Neat, huh? They’re offering prints (get the acrylic drybond… I love the way photos look under acrylic.) of my work in limited editions of 100 for each. Here’s a couple samples of what’s up in their collection:

Tiano took some amazing shots of me:

by TianoMy photographers often have wanted to experience life as a model, and now that I’m a photographer I’m flattered that many of them trust me to capture them. It is a great responsibility to tell their story, and here is Tiano, the Jiu-Jitsu-fighting-fine-art-photographer. :)

Lost Souls

Here’s a snapshot of the less-touristy areas of Galveston, often afflicted, and then abandoned or ignored. I love how the colors play against the sky, still almost the definitive beach-bunny-color scheme.  These were all shot from the car, out the window. I love how it almost stretches the images, twists up the ends like an old photo.

Gulf Coast Delights

Here’s a few pics from my recent travels over Galveston Island on the Texas Gulf coast and Houston. Travel piece to follow at Blast.com. Galveston is a wonderfully nostalgic place that is literally disappearing into time, while Houston is a thriving metroplex.

Midwest Melodrama

On Easter I ate ribs.
(are ya followin’ me here?)
Weekdays rocked out the coneys, and spent a dinner at Manson’s fave hangout. Charles, not Marilyn.
(“And Bob Huggins!”)
Saw a black guy that spilled cool like Run DMC, named Zoran, rock out the drums to the typical midwestern-bar-cover-band-soundtrack.
Wound up a mountain and tore down a molehill.
Birthdays in an old-folks home.
Rotated twenty stories up reading stories from the hills.
Bickered, begged, belittled and belied.
Demanded coiffure on a sportscaster and received my wish.
Auntie Ferrari and her husband Fausto are just lookin’ for a coupla nice kids to live in their attic, any takers?

Sewn in sunlight

Sludging on 16-wheels to a more familiar fog, and I’ve got two naggingly-normal-ninnies chatting incompatibly with one another, gnawing my ear off behind me. The singing strings from a friend’s digital-ditty-writin’-machine swells and fills the gaps between cochlea and lobe, soaking up the theoried string of conversations that neither pique my interest nor distract my attention from daydreaming out the fishbowl.

Suburbia has a new fascination, all of the conformity: squares, circles, rectangles; all things that abide by specific, simple mathematical laws, but such laws build theories and from theories to hypothesis, branching into a nuclear burst.

This possibility is what draws me in.

There is a comfort there that feeds a dusty seed so scattered. Routine is everything to those of us who are sown by the wind, field and forest call–sunlight blinds in its rhythmic peak rolling over motorized coaches.

Meanwhile, the murk danses reflected on shoulders through bare branches yawning and stretching skyward, sleepy after sadistic Winter’s rough-ride and turning to escape her embrace–marching again to the shy espousement of Spring, settling into the thaw.

Would everything stop moving meow?

So it’s post-DC-pre-Ohio-pre-pre-Texas, and I think I’ve got permamove on my mind…. even inertia seems to be lurching at the moment.

I’m back in Philly, but only for the night. ZDP and I will be leaving for Ohio tomorrow, and then Texas in a coupla weeks. We came in from DC-Baltimore Saturday evening, and headed to NYC Sunday night, with Rusty-dog, (who is my cat), in my backpack who was going to visit Uncle Andrew for the Midwest/Southern travel leg.

Can I be weird for a second and talk about my cat like he’s a person? Good.

This will be a nice little vacation for Rusty. There’s a window, and an Andrew. Which is more company than he’s had lately with the bounce back and forth between NYC and Philly, plus a few other travel locations I’ve ventured to on a short-term basis. He’s such a good cat, and is fairly used to his gypsy-mother’s lifestyle, although, he’s also fairly used to having some other animalia companions, but he’s recently become a bachelor.

The voyage was actually a lot of fun; how often do you get to be that weird person in the subway that all of the tourists are gawking at. It was quite an adventure. And I have the pics to prove it, of course!

Magic Bus

Forrest Gump: Mama says they was magic shoes. They could take me anywhere.

Left for DC yesterday- ZDP in tow, to do a few shoots with a few good friends, and a few new ones. :) Bus into DC, crash at a hotel in VA, and end up in Baltimore by the end of the week… Such is my life. By the time it is all said and done I will have logged:

5 states
1 district
4 major cities
10+ modes of transportation

I was a dork and left my battery to my digital camera (ohhhh technology), so I purchased a new toy: A Diana Mini. (Which means film, which means you’ll see pics in a few weeks!) Meanwhile I did take some shots with my Cliq: my newest, favoritist phone.

Enjoy! More later!
